While you can lose weight faster with more intensive workouts, it often pays to do things more gradually and the Walk Away The Pounds DVDs provide a motivational boost and source of guidance on how to make walking more interesting and diverse right in your home.Įach DVD which bears this name is slightly different than the others. I’ve long been a fan of walking for weight loss as I find it an activity that can produce excellent results for people who either don’t have a gym membership or who just don’t want to do highly intensive strength and cardio training. You can find all the DVDs and programs here: Leslie Sansone Walking Programs

The Walk Away the Pounds DVDs and the Walk At Home series by the same trainer provide various walking exercises that can be done in the privacy of your own home and are in essence walking in place workouts. The DVDs are all meant to show people how to do walking exercises at home to shed pounds. And strangely, my Fitbit marked the 3 miles right when Leslie announced the 4 mile mark.Ĥ Mile Super Challenge is approximately 58 minutes and requires no equipment. Is the general name of several fitness DVDs by instructor Leslie Sansone. It said I had “walked” 3 miles although Leslie claims that this is a 4 mile workout. On another note, for curiosity I set my Fitbit to “Walk” when I did this DVD. Be sure to add your own at the end, especially for the hip flexors and quadriceps. And, of course, Leslie is very skimpy on the stretches. I’d prefer to keep the brisk pace until the last 5 minutes or so of the last mile. Also, IMHO the walk slows down in pace early on. I added my own arm movements which helped to increase the intensity. First off, Leslie uses minimal arm movements during the walk.
I have several quibbles with this workout. No, she’s referring to Kat (one of the background exercisers). I noticed that a couple of Amazon reviews say that Leslie says when she kicks she thinks of a cat. from your walks), but since I rarely do a cardio workout too often, I didn’t mind the chatter (or Leslie’s laugh). Some of the comments may be annoying to others on repeat viewings (Yes, we know Jo is a grandma and Carol has lost over 70 lbs. Some of her regular walkers in her earlier workouts (Mary Kay, Carol, Jo, Donna, and Linda) appear here, and Leslie will chat and comment with them. To increase the intensity in the future, I will add weighted gloves and maybe a light weighted vest (4-6 lbs.). (Yes, I just said the latter!) I burned over 500 calories and walked over 5,000 steps. It was also enjoyable, thanks to the upbeat music (that I recognized from some Cathe workouts) and Leslie’s personality and chatter. When a mile is complete, a meter appears at the bottom of the screen letting you know that you’ve completed 1, 2, 3, and then 4 miles. Towards the end of the walk, Leslie even includes grapevines. As usual, you’ll do one move for a bit, go back to walking/marching, another move, back to walking, and so on. There are no “boosted walking” (or jogging) intervals. Leslie uses her basic moves (walking in place, step touch/side steps, knee lifts, kicks, and kickbacks) with some variation in direction and (some but not many) arm movements. I also got her 3 Mile Advanced Walk from this same series (which I will review soon).Īnyways, this is a solid low impact cardio workout. While I’m fitter than I was back in 2012, I’m looking for lighter intensity workouts to mix in with my harder workouts. Then as I became fitter, I had no interest in Leslie’s walks and had gotten rid of all but two. As I mentioned in my 4 Fast Miles review, Leslie’s Walk Away The Pounds workouts were a part of my rotation early on (but The Firm made up the bulk of my workout time). This was another Leslie that I picked up from Goodwill. 4 Mile Super Challenge is a walking cardio workout from Leslie Sansone and part of her Walk Away The Pounds “Express” series.
